PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Project GOAL is pleased to announce that the Rhode Island based organization to receive support through Football for Hope™ due to its track record with keeping Rhode Island youth in school, off the street, 100% graduation success rate, organizational capacity, and excellent proposal. Football For Hope ™, through FIFA ™, uses the power of the game of soccer for social development throughout the world.
Football for Hope ™ was launched by FIFA (Fédération Internationale de Football Association) in 2005 to bring together, support, advise and strengthen organizations working towards sustainable social development. Football for Hope is collaborating worldwide with best-practice organizations working in the field of Development Through Football (soccer). During the annual “Call for Project Proposals”, selected organizations are invited to submit projects to be supported through Football for Hope. Project GOAL, Inc. (Greater Opportunity for Athletes to Learn), is an after-school initiative that partners with the Central Falls School Department, SCOPE/Central Falls School District, Providence School Department, Rhode Island College’s M.ED. in Reading program, and the Soccer Rhode Island Olympic Development Program. Project GOAL’s mission is to facilitate the development of New England’s disadvantaged inner city youth through after-school tutoring, health education, and soccer-related programs.
A non-profit 501©3 organization, Project GOAL, Inc., is comprised of professionals from the business, academic, health and soccer communities who support the project in achieving its objectives in creating opportunities for its “GOALie” participants.
